Points to consider when buying investment property:
- Discounted property is often offered by developers at different times of the year to ensure project completion before the end of their financial year
- It’s easier to buy discounted property when the property market is slow or to stimulate demand, e.g. during holiday periods or the winter, or when interest rates are increased
- When supply outstrips demand, developers discount property. This happens in areas with lots of new developments
- Property is often discounted as part of a phased development, when the second phase can’t commence until all the first phase is sold
